Blood Center asks for community partnership to ensure supply remains available over the summer months.

Stanford Blood Center (SBC) has announced that their South Bay Donation Center at 295 E. Hamilton Avenue in Campbell will be temporarily closed for renovations starting June 3.
Over the past year, they experienced multiple plumbing issues that have disrupted operations and impacted the donor experience. It’s time to fix the root cause and make long-term improvements to better serve the patient and donor communities.
During renovations, SBC is opening a temporary platelet donation center on June 4 at: 50 E. Hamilton Avenue, Suite 200 in Campbell. Donations will be by appointment only.

• Platelet donations only at this temporary location
• Appointments are required and can be scheduled through their website, the SBC app, or by calling 888-723-7831 or texting to 999-777. Same-day appointments are available. No walk-ins, please.
Whole Blood & SuperRed Donations
Stanford Blood Center will be increasing the number of mobile blood drives in the South Bay throughout June and July to help offset the impact of the temporary closure. As SBC’s busiest donation site, the South Bay center plays a critical role in maintaining the local blood supply. Community members are encouraged to donate at a nearby mobile drive or visit one of SBC’s other donation centers in Menlo Park, Mountain View, or Tri-Valley.
Renee Gipson, SBC’s Donor Services Director says, “With the temporary closure of our South Bay Donation Center, we’re relying on our community to help keep the blood supply strong. Summer is historically a more challenging time for collections due to travel and busy schedules, so we’re asking folks to continue supporting local patients by donating at one of our other convenient locations.”

Everyone who donates during the month of June will receive two tickets to an upcoming San Francisco Giants game. For a list of game selections, please click here.

Donors should be in good health with no cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms. Be sure to eat well prior to donation, drink fluids, and bring a photo ID. Donors must be at least 17 years of age (or 16 with a parent or guardian’s consent). Eligibility information can be found at stanfordbloodcenter.org/eligibility or by calling 888-723-7831.
